Book Launch for Sonya Rapoport: Objects on My Dresser
Please join us for a book launch to celebrate Sonya Rapoport: Objects on My Dresser by Alla Efimova and Terri Cohn. With exclusive access to archival materials and interviews with the artist during her lifetime, Efimova and Cohn decode Rapoport’s expansive, enigmatic art project and position it within the canons of Conceptual, Feminist, and early computer art. The authors reveal Objects on My Dresser (1979-83) to be a psychological self-portrait for the digital age.
An artist with deep roots in the San Francisco Bay Area, Rapoport (1923-2015) was a long-time supporter of Kala Art Institute. The book is co-published by the Sonya Rapoport Legacy Trust and Kala Art Institute and funded, in part, by the Jay DeFeo Foundation.
